The difference between Organic & Biodynamic
Biodynamic farming is a remarkable approach that nurtures the earth by utilising natural manures and composts, steering clear of synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides. This practice not only enriches the soil but also fosters an environment that allows plants to thrive healthily and harmoniously. Similarly, organic farming champions the production of high-quality food through sustainable methods, embracing nature's gifts without reliance on artificial fertilisers. Together, these methods inspire a deeper connection to our food, inviting us to support practices that prioritise both our health and the health of our planet.

What is the difference between ‘Spray-free’ & ‘Organic’?
The terms "spray-free" and "organic" both relate to how produce is grown, but they do not mean the same thing. "Spray-free" means that synthetic pesticides or herbicides have not been used. At the same time, "organic" refers to a farming system that uses sustainable practices and natural inputs to improve soil fertility, manage pests, and control weeds, and prohibits the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, and GMOs. While organic produce is also spray-free, not all spray-free produce is organic.

What does Integrated Pest Management (IPM) mean?
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a sustainable approach to managing pests that combines multiple control methods to minimise the use of pesticides and reduce their impact on the environment and human health. IPM programs rely on a thorough understanding of pest biology and their interaction with the environment, utilising information about pest life cycles and ecological relationships to make informed decisions about pest management.

What are the reasons for importing certain products from other countries?
Australia is an expansive and breathtaking country, rich in diverse climates and seasons, with soils capable of nurturing an impressive variety of crops. However, it's essential to acknowledge that certain products thrive best in different parts of the world, influenced by specific types of soil, rainfall patterns, and climate conditions. This is why we sometimes rely on imports for items that cannot be cultivated here.
Before these goods reach our shores, they undergo meticulous checks to ensure they adhere to Australia's stringent organic and biodynamic certification standards, guaranteeing that everything we receive is 100% certified. This commitment not only reflects our dedication to quality but also our responsibility to provide you with the best organic products available. We believe in nurturing both our environment and our customers through sustainable sourcing so that you can enjoy the finest nature has to offer.

What does 'Kosher' mean?
“Kosher” is a term used to describe foods that comply with dietary guidelines set by traditional Jewish law. These laws determine which foods may be consumed and how they must be produced, processed, and prepared.
Kosher guidelines strictly prohibit the pairing of any meat and dairy product. This also means that all utensils and equipment used to prepare meat and dairy must always be kept separate.
Kosher guidelines limit the consumption of animal-based foods to specific animals and cuts of meat that are slaughtered and prepared in a particular manner.
Most plant-based foods are considered kosher. However, they may lose this status if they’re processed or prepared using non-kosher equipment.

Free Delivery on Your First 4 Orders
What is “Free Delivery on Your First 4 Orders”?
All logged-in members can enjoy a special treat—each can use one $4.95
delivery coupon on their first four orders! That means you can get home
delivery for practically nothing with that sweet $4.95 off. This offer
applies to suburbs within the delivery fee range. If you're in an area
with a higher delivery fee, don’t worry! You can still use your coupon,
and we’ll subtract that $4.95 from your total. Happy ordering!
How do I qualify for it and obtain it?
- Sign up and log in (free).
- After you become a member, the system automatically issues 4 × $4.95 delivery coupons to your account (you’ll also get an email).
- At checkout, enter one of your coupons to deduct $4.95 from the delivery fee; use one per order until all four are used.
- You can use it anytime you wish. It doesn't have to be consecutive.
How do I view and use my free-delivery coupons?
After you log in, go to My Account (click the small ▼ next to the menu name to open its dropdown → Sales Order / Invoice) and open any order or invoice. If a coupon was used, you’ll see a line like “- $4.95 Delivery Coupon” on that order.
How can I check if I still have coupons left?
Go to the Cart, click “Have a promo code?” and enter one of your coupon codes:
- If you see “Promo code applied” and - $4.95, your coupon is valid.
- If you see “usage limit reached / invalid”, you’ve used all four coupons or the code is incorrect.

Ordering Issues
What happens if certain items become unavailable on the day of delivery after payment?
This situation may arise from time to time for several reasons, such as adverse weather conditions, transportation difficulties, flooding, agricultural challenges, or simply when demand exceeds supply at the end of the season. These are common hurdles that the industry routinely faces. Fortunately, there are a few practical ways to address these challenges:
1) If we find that certain items in your order are unavailable, we’ll reach out to you via phone or email to discuss possible substitutes. For instance, if silverbeet isn’t in stock, we might suggest a lovely bunch of spinach or some vibrant rainbow chard as an alternative. Rest assured, we’ll ensure the value of your substitute is equal to or greater than the original item, and we'll cover any difference as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience.
2) In the event we've tried to contact you without receiving a response, we'll take the liberty of selecting substitutes for your missing items based on our expertise. We’ll do our best to choose items that match your preferences and needs.
3) We will notify you via email about any missing items from your order, including their total dollar value. For example, suppose both a bunch of silverbeet and 1 litre of milk are unavailable, and you prefer not to select alternatives. In that case, we will credit your account a total of $6, which will be stored in your 'e-wallet' (as detailed in our FAQs) for your convenience when you place your next order.

Pre-ordered Items
How does it work?
We’re excited to let you know that if you've placed a pre-order, you can expect to receive your items in about 2 to 3 days, give or take.
As a new start-up, we’re like a cyclist learning to ride—we’re still getting the hang of things with a bit of help from our training wheels!
But don’t worry, as we grow, we’ll have all sorts of amazing products ready to go, and those training wheels will soon be a thing of the past!
Just a quick heads-up: any pre-ordered items will either be included in your next shipment or sent separately.
If, by chance, your pre-ordered item isn’t available, we’ve got your back! We’ll refund your money to your bank account as soon as your payment clears on our end, and you can expect that within five business days.
We’ll keep you updated and let you know as soon as your order arrives.

What are Nightshades
Nightshades are unique because they contain small amounts of alkaloids. Alkaloids are chemical compounds primarily found in plants. For something to be considered an alkaloid, it must contain nitrogen and affect the human body, usually from a medicinal perspective.

Are Nightshades Bad for Your Health?
While some alkaloids have positive effects on human health, others can have adverse effects. For example, the chemicals found in tobacco, a nightshade plant, can cause cancer.
The alkaloid found in nightshades is solanine. It functions as an insecticide while the plant is growing.Eating too much solanine can make you feel bad. When potatoes turn green, they contain more alkaloids, which makes them taste more bitter. That is why people usually recommend throwing out green and/or sprouting potatoes. If you eat green potatoes, you may experience nausea or diarrhoea. You can also get a fever or a headache.
Typically, potatoes and other nightshade vegetables contain an acceptable amount of alkaloids.
Tomatoes contain more alkaloids in the stem and vine than in the fruit. Studies show that as tomatoes mature, the amount of alkaloids in the part that you eat decreases. So, it is unlikely to eat too many alkaloids from tomatoes, especially if you avoid unripe, green tomatoes.
Overall, there is no conclusive evidence that nightshade vegetables are detrimental to one's health. Some preliminary research suggests that these vegetables may not be the best choice for individuals with certain inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, such as arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease. However, nightshades don't cause inflammation directly. They may exacerbate the existing inflammation.

What are the benefits of Nightshades?
Other nutrients in nightshades may be good for your health. They contain antioxidants that protect cells from damage due to stress.
For example, anthocyanin, the antioxidant that gives eggplant its purple colour, can reduce the risk of developing cancer, diabetes, and infections.

Low FODMAP Diet
FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols. It’s a type of carbohydrate that can resist digestion. Some people with digestive issues can benefit by reducing these in their diet.
FODMAPs are types of carbohydrates found in certain foods, including wheat and beans. Studies have shown strong links between FODMAPs and digestive symptoms like gas, bloating, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and constipation.
Low FODMAP diets can offer significant benefits for many individuals with common digestive disorders.

Keto Diet
The ketogenic diet, often referred to as the "keto" diet, is a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that prompts the body to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. This metabolic state, known as ketosis, involves the body producing ketones from fat, which are then utilised as an energy source.
Here's a breakdown of the keto diet: Very Low Carbohydrates:
A core principle is to drastically reduce carbohydrate intake, typically to 20- 50 grams per day.
High Fat:
Most calories come from healthy fats, such as those found in meat, fish, eggs, nuts, and healthy oils.
Moderate Protein:
Protein intake is moderate, as excessive protein can be converted to glucose, which can hinder ketosis.
Goal: Ketosis:
The primary goal is to induce ketosis, a metabolic state where the body uses ketones for energy.

Paleo Diet
The paleo diet, also known as the Palaeolithic diet, is based on the types of foods that humans might have eaten during the Palaeolithic era, roughly 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. It emphasises whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, and seeds, while
excluding grains, legumes, dairy, processed foods, refined sugars, and added salt.
Key aspects of the paleo diet:
Foods Allowed:
Lean meats (beef, poultry, pork, etc.), fish (especially fatty fish like salmon), seafood, fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, seeds, and healthy oils (like olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil).
Foods Excluded:
Grains (wheat, rice, corn, etc.), legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts, etc.), dairy products, processed foods, refined sugars, and added salt.
Rationale:
Proponents of the paleo diet believe that the human body is genetically better adapted to the foods available to our Palaeolithic ancestors, and that modern diets high in processed foods, grains, and dairy contribute to the development of chronic diseases.
Potential Benefits:
Some studies suggest potential benefits, including weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity, and reduced blood pressure; however, more research is needed to confirm these effects and their long-term impact.
Potential Drawbacks:
Excluding entire food groups, such as dairy and grains, could lead to nutritional deficiencies if not carefully managed. Some experts also caution that the paleo diet may not be suitable for everyone, and it's recommended to consult with a doctor or registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes.

Gluten Free Diet
A gluten-free diet involves eliminating all foods containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. It's often necessary for individuals with celiac disease or gluten intolerance to manage their health. However, it's
It is also a common choice for those seeking weight management or simply a change in their diet.
Gluten is a protein that gives dough its elasticity and structure, making it essential for bread and other baked goods. It's found naturally in wheat, barley, rye, and triticale (a hybrid of wheat and rye).
Why Go Gluten-Free? Celiac Disease:
A severe autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten, causing damage to the small intestine.
Gluten Intolerance:
A less severe condition than celiac disease, where gluten triggers digestive symptoms like bloating, gas, and stomach pain.
Personal Preference:
Some individuals choose a gluten-free diet to manage their weight, improve digestion, or reduce inflammation.
A gluten-free diet can be pretty diverse and includes:
Naturally Gluten-Free Foods: Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, and legumes.
Gluten-Free Grains: Rice, quinoa, buckwheat, corn, millet, sorghum, and amaranth.
Gluten-Free Products: Many commercially available gluten-free breads, pasta, cereals, and baked goods.
Foods to Avoid
Grains: Wheat, barley, rye, and triticale.
Processed Foods: Some processed foods may contain gluten as a binding agent or flavouring.
Drinks: Many beers and some types of sauces, dressings, and even some medications may contain gluten.

Atkins Diet
The Atkins
diet is a low-carbohydrate diet that restricts carbohydrate intake while emphasising
protein and fat consumption, aiming to shift the body's metabolism to burn fat
for energy. It is a diet initially created by Dr Robert Atkins, which has
evolved to include different phases and approaches to accommodate various
lifestyles and weight loss goals.

Grass-fed vs Grain-fed
The main difference between grain-fed and grass-fed beef lies in the animals' diets. Grass-fed beef comes from cattle that graze on pasture their entire lives, while grain-fed beef comes from cattle that typically spend most of their lives grazing but are then finished on a grain-based diet for a period before slaughter. This difference in diet affects the meat's flavour, texture, and nutritional content.

Free-range vs Pasture-raised
The key difference between free-range and pasture-raised eggs lies in the amount and quality of outdoor access provided to the hens. While both terms imply hens have some access to the outdoors, pasture-raised generally means a more natural, diverse environment with ample space and vegetation. In contrast, free-range can be less specific and may involve limited outdoor access in less natural settings.
In essence, "Free-range" indicates some outdoor access, but the quality and quantity can vary greatly. "Pasture-raised" implies a more natural and sustainable system with greater access to diverse pasture and often higher nutritional value in the eggs.

Wild-caught vs Farmed
Wild-caught and farmed fish differ in their origins, diets, and potential health and environmental impacts. Wild-caught fish are caught in their natural habitat, while farmed fish are raised in controlled environments, such as tanks or ponds. Wild-caught fish generally have a more diverse diet and are not exposed to antibiotics or artificial colouring, which can be a concern with farmed fish. However, wild-caught fish populations can be affected by overfishing and destructive fishing practices.
